I am chary of any mention of nationalism, as it is veering toward becoming a synonym for racism.
The core question would appear to be: who decides what is the "common good"? How is that reflected -- or is it -- in the Constitution?
If the people of the U.S. decide through electoral processes what is considered the "common good," this is not of itself problematic.
If the elected and appointed were to determine what the "common good" is, becoming self-designated wielders of parens patriae powers, we must then bid goodbye to self-governance.
The question in the back of my mind about this is that from what I can gather, Vermeule has little praise for the administrative state. Why he would be found advocating for more state control perplexes me.

The question is, should we fight fire 🔥 with 🔥? In light of conservatives lack of winning any fight with the left, it's the natural progression of contest. If we couldn't see where this would lead, then we are all blinded.
